PGCE Welcome and Induction begins on Monday, 17th September 2018.

The Welcome programme is full time and is based on campus with additional opportunities to participate in a range of off-site educational visits. You are expected to attend all Welcome sessions as this is a compulsory part of your programme.

Aims of the Welcome and Induction programme

  • Meeting fellow students and tutors and working collaboratively
  • Learning about the Primary Education Programme
  • Workshops introducing the National Curriculum and the Teachers Standards
  • Introductory module and subject sessions
  • Experiencing learning outside the classroom: including outdoor activities, off-site visits to museums, galleries and a place of worship
  • Introduction to the library resources and the virtual learning environment, UniHub
  • Identifying any support needed with academic writing
  • Familiarisation with the campus facilities
  • Joining a Union
  • Gaining practical experience through observations and directed tasks in a primary classroom
